Robert and Shana Parkeharrison are a husband and wife photography duo who have continually inspired me from the first time I saw their work years ago. The image above is particularly one of my favorites and the first that caught my eye out of all they have done. I can say with most certainty that this photograph was one that after immediately seeing made me feel enthusiastic and inspired to be a the kind of photographer that pushes boundaries and integrates other aspects of creativity to an image. I have a fondness for images that create new worlds and exaggerate while maintaining the ability to relate. They have an incredible capacity to visualize what many people internally struggle with on a daily basis. Robert describes their work as "stories of loss, human struggle, and personal exploration within landscapes scarred by technology and over-use." They use sculpture, painting and aspects of theater to produce a surreal image. The following is another favorite of mine. Everytime I check back in with them, they have added new inspiring images.
So I just thought I would share with you two photographers that inpired me years ago when I was still struggling to decide if I should be a photographer and are still inspiring me now, years later when I have no question in my mind about being one. They are lovely.
