This is not a stupid play off of The 12 Days of Christmas, although now that song is in my head after writing out the title.
I stumbled across these videos this morning and they have stuck in my brain until the afternoon, so I feel obligated to share. The New York Times magazine made fourteen videos of actors portraying classic screen types. It's so well done (the music especially), but what was key for me was the reminder that something incredibly simple- black and white, plain background, limited props and styling- can often read more powerfully than an elaborate set. A good thing to keep in mind when you're a poor photographer starting out, and even beyond that I assume.
